|Subject: Re: Advice needed about Rome|
We enjoyed reading Rick Steves' description of the Forum in Mona Winks. He brings it to life. I only spent a couple of days in Rome so I didn't see as much as I would have liked. I understand that Tivoli and Villa D'Este is well worthwhile. http://www.villadestetivoli.info/indexe.htm
As for budget eating, we had some picnics on church steps as well as cafes and restaurants. Here's a site with strategies and suggestion: http://www.ehow.com/how_14346_eat-rome-cheap.html
Timeout is budget-oriented: http://www.timeout.com/travel/rome I also look for the Guide de Routard sticker in restaurant windows. Budget but good quality.
If you haven't found accommodation yet, take a look at the links in TheTravelzine - budget accommodation category - for some convents in Rome.
