Subject: Re: Info on Dusseldorf, Germany |
Hello Joanna and other Ziners,
Dusseldorf is on the main train line. THere are about 4 trains anhour from Cologne (Koln) to Dusseldorf taking 20 to 30 minutes. If you can't get any reasonable accomodation in Dusseldorf you could try Cologne or some other place along the line. Cologne is to the south. Duisburg to the north. Duisburg has trains to Dusseldorf it seems every 10 minutes or so and is 12 to 15 minutes from Dusseldorf Hauptbahnhof. I have not stayed in Duisburg but have stayed in Cologne. We stayed most recently quite near the station at the Domgarten hotel. Its web site is : http://www.domgarten-hotel.de/index.html A double room costs from 49 to 75 euros. To check the rail times you can go to the German rail site at: http://tinyurl.com/3mwwk note when you type in the town , such as Dusseldorf put "HBF" after for Hauptbahnhof - otherwise for Dusseldorf I ended up at the airport for some reason.
