I love London in February! It is far greener and more mild than the northern US is in winter. I have never had to take my heaviest clothes and have even encountered a shirt-sleeve day or two. (And the air fares are usually at their very best in February.)
My daughter lived in London for six years and said that she never minded the winters. She had more trouble with the summers which tended to be cooler, grayer and wetter than she'd been accustomed to. However, she'd go back in a heartbeat at any time of year.
