Subject: Lucignano, Tuscany |
Hi Linda and other Ziners,
Some years ago we visited Lucignano - rented a house for a week just a mile from the town. Lucignano is near Monte San Savino and Sinalunga. I remember two wonderful meals at Toto's. Hope you have had a chance to revisit it too, Linda. The city is unusual in its design - streets are laid out in concentric circles. Atmospheric streets, walls, small friendly cafes. We also visited the small (walled) cemetery just outside town. It is a little off the beaten track but well worth seeking out. http://www.castellitoscani.com/lucignano.htm Not too far from Lucignano is San Gusme in Chianti. We discovered the communal laundry wandering around looking for a public toilet. It's still in use. Beautiful streetscapes in the village. We also saw a restaurant in Castelnuovo Barardenga that we thought might be worth trying - just where the main road turns the corner in town. However we never had a chance to do so. Hope you are having a great trip, Linda! Frances Toronto, Canada |
