I agree with Anne, that San Gimingano is a must see but it can be very touristy. My husband and I are returning to Chianti this spring to revisit Radda in Chianti, Greve, Castellini in Chianti and Gaiole. They are all small towns, but very close in driving proximity and can be seen easily in one day. For driving routes, go to http://www.viamichelin.com where you can get some very good maps on line.
