Judy,
We stayed at a great place that we loved. It was quiet, which is a real plus in Rome and was an easy walk to everything. Trevi fountain, Campo Fiori, Navona, Parthenon, all within 5 minutes walk or less. Maybe 10 minutes to the Spanish Steps. A little futher to the Colliseum area. Vatican is 20 minutes by foot. Here is a link. http://www.hotelduetorriroma.com/ We were there in June and it was 180 euros a night. It is at the very top end of what we will pay for a hotel. However the location was a real plus and the staff was great. If you can get a rate without breakfast do so. There is better coffee and snacks at the bar around the corner and there are great bakeries and salumerias right nearby. To be able to sleep with the window open and not hear late night partiers going home or vespas zooming around or early morning trucks was worth the cost IMHO. Around the corner is a great restaurant, Campagnola. Hotel can make reservation for you. I wish I were going to Rome, one of the worlds most magnificent cities. Enjoy, David P.S. Bring good shoes. Roman streets are murder on the feet. |
