I am planning a trip to Kyoto and Osaka/Kobe/Himeji in Japan in September. The plan is to base 3 nights in Kyoto and 3 nights in Osaka. I am looking for hotels in central location, with private shower (I mention this only because it is Japan), and internet connection in the hotel. Price range? Hope not have to spend more than $250/per double room.

I have been to Kyoto once in 1976, and stayed at the Westin Miyako during that trip. Westin Miyako is a bit out of the way. I am looking for a hotel within walking distance to shopping district and restaurant rows. Perhaps some Ziners might have stayed at a good hotel in Kyoto or Osaka that they are very happy with and can recommend?
