|Subject: Learning the lingo?|
Janet mentions that she is learning Portuguese for her upcoming trip to Portugal.
Do you learn some Italian, Spanish (insert a language here!) before you go?
I usually bring a phrase book although I find the old-fashioned ones seem to be a little patronizing and emphasizing complaints. I also have a menu translator for Spain that is handy.
I like to be able to at least make the polite Hello's, etc. Most difficult is when you are traveling through several countries over a short period of time. I finally get used to the Italian greeting and I am in a German area. I always seem to be one language behind!
