Jane,
We have rented a Vespa on two occasions, on Santorini and
on Kho Samui. Basically these are bicycles with motors and
you have to negotiate the centre of gravity. We wiped out
on Santorini but all was not lost because we simply fell
off the bike and walked into the sea to wash ourselves off.
In Thailand we had to ride through pools of water left by
torrential rains with the motor complaining all the way.
Riding a Vespa is a short-term experience. Italians use them to get around their cities. They are vehicular toys and I would not use them for inter-city travel. Lucy, Toronto |
