Subject: Re: Paris Day trip advice |
Hi John,
Giverny is a great idea but there are other possibilities. We went by train to Chartres to see the cathedral. We enjoyed the tour by the amazing Malcolm Miller. In addition we daytripped to Tours and visited several chateaux. We took the early TGV and used a shuttle service to visit the gardens and chateaux. For more information, see my posting: http://ttz.thetravelzine.com/TTarchive/025745.html Be sure to check out the archive for more information about Giverny and Chartres as well. Transportation and other information is there. BTW, of the three, Giverny was the most crowded. We went on a weekend afternoon in late May - early June and we had quite a wait to get in. Lovely visit though and worthwhile. The fast train service makes many unlikely places a daytrip away - Brussels, Bruges and more. Frances Toronto, Canada |
