As Candice I prefer making my reservations directly to the hotel without prepaying my whole stay.

I feel that this flexibility is worth it. As an example last year I found very good rates in Paris for a hotel through Exclusive Hotels http://www.hotels-exclusive.com and try to get the same rate by calling the hotel at no avail.

Nevertheless I made the reservation directly which proved to be a wise decision since I had to cancel it later which I did without paying a penalty.

On the other hand when I deal with a point-to-point trip like a few days in New York I might make a prepaid reservation providing I get a good rate.

I was wondering how do other Ziners make hotel reservations, prepaying or not?
