We leave next Friday for two weeks in Britain. Not sure what we will be doing except a visit to Hadrian's Wall area and the Lake District to visit some of my husband's university friends. Perhaps Edinburgh and the Borders. With a short time and some family responsibilities to fit in, we won't have time to go very far afield.

Later this summer, we will have a week at a camp in the Laurentians north of Montreal (with my Ziner sister Helen).

I was wondering which of the sites at Hadrian's Wall are particularly worth visiting. I see that Rick Steves recommends Housesteads Roman Fort and Vindolanda. A website mentions Birdoswald. Any recommendations?

Due to family health issues, I am not organized at all! We may have to make B&B or hotel reservations as we go. We have booked a car (after exensive research we found the Auto Europe had the best price) and our last night at Heathrow (Jurys Inn has a great deal if you book ahead).
