Subject: Re: Summer Plans? |
Hi Ziners,
I'm a little late for this thread, but I've been busy traveling. Good excuse, right? In between driving around to see 3 kids (WA, MD, and MA) with sightseeing along the way, I am joining a group of birders for a week in Panama this August. I haven't yet made up my mind whether or not to spend an extra day or two in Panama City. Do any Ziners have any ideas about where to stay and what not to miss there? Also, in the austral summer, I will be taking a month's tour to the Ross Sea region of Antarctica, leaving from Invercargill, New Zealand. Heritage Expeditions will take us to several subantarctic islands along the way. We are to see Shackleton's hut and Scott's hut, preserved by the cold climate almost as if they just left it. A visit to some N.Z. research stations and McMurdo Station is included. I am so looking forward to it! I will also do plenty of research on what to take for sea sickness without getting hung over or falling asleep. I'd appreciate some input from Ziners on that too. The ocean crossing is supposed to be rough on a good day. My husband opted out of this one, and I learned that I will have a Southlander roomie who comes from Invercargill. As the trip takes up a whole month, I may just take an extra day in Invercargill. The rest of N.Z. will have to wait for another trip. Carrie, Bardonia NY |
