Hi Mark, I agree with Susana - the Central market in KL is wonderful to walk around as well as Petaling Street (Chinatown). I really like the old colonial buildings of Mederka Square too.

If your friend is interested in history - the National Museum is excellent. Here's their site to give her/him a preview: http://www.museum.gov.my/museum/

The railway station is also rather interesting - neat "Moorish" architecture and its got shops, restaurants and a tourist info centre as well.

If your friend is in the need for a natural setting away from the frenzy of the city (perhaps he/she's been battling crowds in other parts of Asia prior to this) the city has some lovely gardens. I enjoy the "Lake Gardens" (Taman Tasik Perdana) and the orchid garden (absolutely incredible variety and number of them).

Cheers! Judy in Hong Kong
