Subject: North American Ice Cream Itinerary |
Hi Ziners,
Some of you may already know that I'm a bit of an ice cream freak. I can easily imagine myself designing a driving itinerary around your suggestions of where I'm likely to find the best homemade ice creams. Let me start by sharing my most recent discovery, while on a family visit to southeast Florida last week, Jaxson's in Dania Beach: http://www.jaxsonsicecream.com We stopped for lunch before our flight home to Toronto from Ft. Lauderdale, sharing a huge, delicious homemade hamburger with sweet potato fries and a great salad, served in a taco bowl with balsamic vinegar dressing - fantastic! While we munched on our lunch, we saw the most enormous ice cream delights being served and devoured with relish all around us. HELLO! Hot fudge sundae never had it so good - tons of creamy, rich chocolate ice cream with an extra mini pitcher of hot fudge on the side (as if there wasn't enough of it underneath the mountains of whipped cream). Jaxson's portions are definitely meant for sharing or be prepared to feel very guilty when you're done - but happy!! Jaxson's decor is unique and fun, decorated with vintage license plates from around the world. There's also a great selection of gifts and souvenirs, unique items suitable for kids, etc. Service is helpful and friendly - no wonder they've been in business at the same location since 1956! So tell me, where's the best ice cream in your neck-of-the-woods? Cheers! Linda |
