Hi Ziners,
When we arrived at Ft. Lauderdale airport last week, we were pleasantly surprised to find a streamlined system for retrieving rental cars. A shuttle bus was waiting at our terminal to transport all car renters arriving at that terminal to a central building where all of the rental car companies have their offices and garage their vehicles. We saved time by not having to stop at the other terminals and by not arriving with a busload of customers all for the same car company. We returned our car to the same building, where an agent of our rental car company greeted us and gave us our receipt before we boarded the shuttle waiting to whisk us directly to our terminal. The efficiency of this new system is certainly a vast improvement. We stayed at the Courtyard Miami Aventura Mall by Marriott http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/MIAAV which we reserved online. You'd never know that this hotel is part of a chain! Throughout our stay, we were greeted with smiles and by name, by staff that went out of its way to make sure that all our needs were met (including opening a bottle of wine we had purchased at the nearby Publix supermarket!). This hotel is so well-located, we could walk to some stores and be at Aventura Mall (Cheesecake Factory) in just minutes. We were just a short drive from our favorite Jewish restaurant, Wolfie Cohen's Rascal House: http://www.jerrysfamousdeli.com/rascal_home.html Best of all, with free, high speed Internet access in the rooms, I was able to help the moderators edit and approve your messages. Whoops, I almost forgot to mention the fabulous breakfasts at the Courtyard, including eggs and omelettes made to order, waffles with homemade whole strawberry preserves, pecans and yummy, perfectly crispy bacon. The downside of all this? The weight gain, of course! I'm working on it. Cheers! Linda |
