The credit card companies make too much money for consumers to expect to see a reduction in the foreign exchange transaction fees. The author's conclusion - get a Providian Visa or Mastercard. Providian is among the very few issuers that is not imposing their own "cross-border transaction" fee.
The only other alternative that I can think of - cash. Mark in Los Angeles
