Subject: Re: Italy travel question
Hello all:

Pat Coil asked about the cheaper way to get from Rome to Siena, bus or train.

As part of the discussion, Joel Smith said that he thought that the Siena train station was somewhat distant from the city center. Unless trains arriving from Rome come to a different station than those coming from Florence (which I doubt), he is correct. You would need to add in at least the cost of a bus with its attendant wait, if not a cab. This would also probably offset any travel time differential as well. We were last in Siena in May of 2004, so our memory is quite fresh. We took the bus from Florence to Siena, which is the standard way of going.
