I shall second what others have said about Elderhostel. I've done trips with them to Turkey, Italy and the U.S. and all were excellent. The lecturers have been knowledgeable, the trips well organized, and the accommodations, while not luxurious, were all acceptable with private baths and central locations. They also generally included insurance in their prices.
