While you can scan slides from many scanners it is best that you have a scanner that specifically is advertised as a slide scanner ... it will have a mode ideal for slides and will recognize the items in its slide holder as slides and you will get high resolution on each slide .... if you scan more than about 4 per scan then in all likelihood the resolution will suffer and you will not have images that can be printed at high quality.

I have had excellent luck with epson printers costing in the $200 range ... and while they are set to scan slides they can scan any media up to 8 1/2 x 11
