Subject: World Cycling Championships in Madrid |
Hi all,
I donīt know of many Ziners interested in cycling (bar the ocassional one who came into the sport because of Lance Armstrong), but if anyone is remotedly interested, and plan to be in Madrid sometime between the17th and the 25th of September, they should know that they are in for a treat. La Vuelta finishes on the 18th of September in Madrid, and you will be able to find out who is the winner of the golden jersey after last yearīs Roberto Heras. He has won it three times, and will be trying for the fourth time. The World Championships will be held from the 21st to the 25th of September, both for men and women. Spain has three great contenders : Oscar Freire, Igor Astarloa and Alejandro Valverde, but I am pretty sure that countries such as Italy or Belgium with their great "Classic" riders will be able to bring excitement to the race. And if you are bored of watching cycling, you can always pop up into the Prado ( the exhibition "The palace of the King Planet" will be on until November ), the Reina Sofia or the Thyssen. http://www.museothyssen.org/ http://www.museoreinasofia.es/ http://museoprado.mcu.es/home.html Or go and enjoy a musical : take your pick of "Cabaret", "Mamma Mia" or "Victor/Victoria". Kind regards, Covadonga Bilbao-Madrid/Spain |
