Subject: Re: Gasoline Prices in Europe
Dear Elaine and Ziners,

In Europe we use liters as a capacity measure. A gallon is about 3.8 liters. In Portugal a liter of gasoline costs around 1.25 euros. One euro is about 1.23 USD. So a gallon in Portugal costs 5.81 USD. In Portugal gasoline costs 5.81 / 2.5 = 2.32, more than double the cost in the US.

And Portugal is one of the cheapest West Europeans countries on what concerns gasoline cost.

Now you understand one of the reasons why the US having 5% of the World population has a consumption of about 25% of World total energy consumption.
