Hello Linda and Ziners,
When you visit Vienna be sure to save an evening to eat at Figimullers http://www.figlmueller.at/ They have huge, absolutely delicious Schnitzel. They are plate size, and it is a fun experience. I don't believe we were able to finish our meals and wished we had a refrigerator in the room. Corny as it is, in Salzberg I thoroughly enjoyed The Sound of Music Tour, and the scenery out of town is beautiful. I can't remember the name or the place, but I found the information in my hotel, for a dinner with a show of fun music. By the way in Salzburg I stayed at a hotel operated by a family with my last name. I had found the name in a brochure at a travel agency and went there on purpose. It was very convenient and fit my budget. The name of the hotel is Alstadthotel Wolf-Dietrich. The hotel can be found on http://www.salzburg-hotel.at The last day I introduced myself to the proprietor and found that they had come there about 20 years ago. This was one of my chances to top my uncle in our friendly travel competition. He has been many places I will never see, but in several trips to this area and in Germany and Switzerland, he had never been able to find our family name. The hotel also has a restaurant that has more of a luxury cost than the hotel. If I remember correctly, they have made it organic. The food was good but expensive. I have been to Vienna twice. The first time I stayed at a very nice hotel--Kaiserin Elisabeth. However, since retirement, I have been more interested in saving pennies and a year ago stayed at Pension Pertschy. Both are very convenient for walking to sites/sights and excellent places to stay. Sincerely, Joan in Rockford |
