Subject: Re: Niagara Falls |
Greetings!
Niagara on the Lake is on the Canadian side of the river as it empties into Lake Ontario. The "falls" are about 15 km (10 miles or so) South of where you'll be. I'm sure there is abundant transportation between these two locales. If you have a vehicle, definitely drive up the Niagara Parkway to the falls. It's a gorgeous drive (fall colours might be starting if you're there later in September) with plenty of stops to make in our award winning Niagara wineries. Peller Estates, Strewn, and Konzelmann are right in the Niagara on the Lake area. Peller also has an excellent restaurant. If you want to go a little farther afield, two simply outstanding winery restaurants are located in the village of Jordan at Cave Springs winery, http://www.innonthetwenty.com/ott_restaurant.htm as well as at Vineland Estates winery http://www.vineland.com . These latter two are 5 star (plus) establishments and listed in DiRONA and Zagat. They're pricey but worth it for a real treat, but the strength of the US dollar should take some of the sticker shock away. Enjoy your stay; IMHO, September is the best month to visit the Niagara area. John Wiernikowski Hamilton, ON |
