Hi Linda and Ziners,
I've been enjoying all the "WOW" moments written by so many of you. This is a great topic, Linda. Two of my WOW moments concerning food are---pizza in Nice and gelato in San Remo. Both were absolute ambrosia! Another WOW moment took place in Ontario. My home town is Coniston, on the outskirts of Sudbury, in Northern Ontario. When I was growing up, there was no grass anywhere and very few trees. There was nothing but sand and rock, vegetation having been destroyed by sulphur billowing from the smokestacks of INCO's smelters. People often referred to Coniston as "the moon" and actually, NASA sent astronauts to the area for training for their moon flights. Our house was on the top of a hill on the edge of town and when we looked out we could see the whole town before us. Two years ago, I took a trip back to visit the house in which I had grown up. When I looked out, I couldn't see the town at all. All I could see were GRASS, FLOWERS and TREES! It brought tears to my eyes. There has been a "greening" of the Sudbury area. WOW!!! Orysia Kitchener, Ontario |
