Subject: Re: WOW |
Greetings fellow travelers,
What a lovely thread, Linda. We have enjoyed reading the many responses very much. Thanks to all the reponding Ziners out there. Marghe and I are currently about two thirds way through our annual trek of three or four months (isn't it great to be retired), so we must keep our response to a very brief one. In all our travels, year in and year out, I guess we would both say our biggest WOW is experiencing the Louvre in Paris. Even the new entrance, as gawdy as it may be, does not diminish the breathtaking beauty of all the artwork at the Louvre. We have been there many times over the years, and we have still not seen it all. Now that the impressionist period artworks have been moved (mostly) to the Museum d'Orsay, another happy journey can be experienced there as well. Another WOW. Lastly, Rodin, the greatest sculptor since Michelangelo. To experience his museum all standing alone, including his drawings, is simply unforgetable. Hmmm, sound like another trip to Paris is in order for us. This year we have seen Puerto Rico, 7 States in America and will soon leave for a month in Panamá. Then it will be back to our main home in Australia. Thank you all again for sharing, and to Linda for getting this entertaining ball rolling. Marghe and Marty, California Bay Area for a few more days. |
