Subject: Re: Portugal forest fires |
Hi Ziners and Felice,
This is a very bad year on what concerns fires in Portugal. There has been no serious rain for almost a year and the temperatures are high for the season, above 86 F up to the 104 F, mainly on Centre and South areas. The problems of fires are mainly on the forests located on mountains where is very dificult for fire men to go. Only with planes or helicopters the fire can be well fought. In Coimbra there was a fire in a park on the city limits. However that is an exception on what concerns cities. Felice, if you can give some more information about the places you intend to go maybe I can give you more information. In 2 weeks I believe the temperatures will be lower and the fires will be much less. Best regards Joćo in Lisboa, Portugal |
