Ah, Muskoka. One of the most beautiful spots in south central Ontario. We have rented on Clear Lake (privately) for about 20 years. You are cutting it close but I've included some sites here that you could check for Labour Day weekend rentals.

The larger lakes such as Rosseau, Muskoka and Joseph are not at all intimate nor do they have many secluded cottages. Lake of Bays does have spots that are more private. Smaller ones such as Clear, Wood, Leech, Sparrow and Six Mile lakes have cottages that are tucked away in bays and/or in wooded areas. You might also consider Lake Simcoe, which offers some secluded spots.

Also look at websites for towns/villages such as Bala and Gravenhurst.
