Subject: Re: Florence, Italy, has a campground!
Hi Ziners,

If anyone is interested in Camping Michelangelo, we have camped there 3 times, and loved it. We would have made it number 4 this past summer, but health and physical problems prevented a trip back to Europe.

The setting overlooks Florence. As the article indicates, http://www.insidebayarea.com/travel/ci_2981020 the facilities are very good. A bus stops outside the campground and takes you downtown and directly to the train station.

We have made several day trips from there on the train: Pisa, Siena, Cinque Terre, Assisi, San Gimignano, Orvieto, Rome and even Venice to name a few.

We had specific things to do while making short trips to Rome & Venice, so I wouldn't recommend those two cities if you haven't visited them before.
