Subject: Re: Boston trip planning
Hi Dave,

It may not be too late to take in some of the local "leaf color." Since you will be renting a car, you might want to consider visiting Thoreau country for part of your driving tour. It's a short drive from Boston (19 miles from downtown) and within easy access of 128, which you would take to go up to Maine.

Lexington (where the first battle (battle is subject to interpretation) of the American revolution took place leads to the historic battle road which is a delightful and scenic route through a national park, then on to Concord (homes of Thoreau, Louisa May Alcott, Emerson, etc. and the famous Concord bridge.

Many visitors to Boston don't realize there is much to do and see such a short distance from the heart of the city. They are very surprised to find so much history in such a pastoral setting.

I'm not sure about my schedule at the present, but if time permits I'd be happy to meet you out here in "the country" and give you my "tour guide" spin on area.

Kindly, Sharon Boston
