We'll be headed down to Guatemala in November. As it is our first trip there we will be taking in the requisite highlights; Antigua, Lago de Atitlán, and Tikal. We also plan on heading to Cobán in the Alta Verapaz where we'll be visiting the falls at Semuc Champey, and do a whitewater rafting trip from Lanquin on the Rio Cahabon.

Has anybody visited this area in Guatemala?

And as for Tikal would you stay at the ruins or is it satisfactory to stay in Flores and then get an early start on a visit to the ruins?
