If you wish for scenery, take the 'old Highways' along either side of the river. The one along the North Shore is called Le Chemin Du Roy (The King's Highway). It is one of the oldest routes in Canada.
Taking the 'scenic route' will, of course, take longer than 2.5 hours but will allow you to see more of the history of Quebec.
