We have done a fair amount of traveling in Germany and would recommend Munich. Also, you may want to consider Prague, which may be a similar distance from Berlin. If you intend on driving, my choice would be Munich. Denise and I have numerous suggestions on hotels, restaurants, beer halls and museums should you determine that Munich is your destination.
