I haven't joined the Travelzine for a long time but I just want to suggest a place where I have been living for 4 years and not very far from Berlin : Dresden is worth seeing and it only takes two hours by train.

From Dresden you can visit Swiss Saxonia for one day or Leipzig or Görlitz close to the Polish border.

I think you have a lot of places to visit in Berlin and around Berlin. Have you been to Potsdam? Ready to give you more information.
