Subject: Re: long visit to Los Angeles
Greetings, Myra and Neil,

You have a couple of options for searching for short term housing in the LA area. First, there are hotels that cater to short term needs or corporate housing. There is a very nice Residence Inn on Beverly Dr. between Pico and Olympic, right in the heart of the area where you said you want to stay. There is also an Oakwood property on Barham near the movie and tv studios.

The benefit of these places is that you get a guaranteed reservation and an assured quality level. However, they can be more expensive than a short term rental. The problem of course is how to find the elusive short term place.

I would recommend that you begin with Craig's List. Most of the listings here are not posted with real estate agents or in classified ads - http://losangeles.craigslist.org/sub/

The largest online database of rentals is http://www.westsiderentals.com/

Finally, the LA Weekly, a local alternative publication, also lists short term rentals - http://tinyurl.com/c4d6u

Please let us know when you are going to be in town. The LA Ziners have organized get-togethers in the past. I think we just need an excuse (such as a Ziner visiting from out of town) to get started on the next one.

Cheers, Mark in Los Angeles
