Subject: Re: Peru Amazon - need advice
Hi Carol and Ziners

John and I had a very memorable trip Peru in 2004! With only 12 days to spend, we trekked to Machu Picchu (4 days) and traveled around the Scared Valley visiting markets, villages and ruins. Oh, so much more we would like to see and do in Peru, including Manu!

The following websites were valuable to us in planning our trip:

http://www.samexplo.org http://www.andeantravelweb.com/peru/index.html

From the first site, South American Explorers Club, we ordered the "Peru brochure" for info on lodging and restaurants. I also called the NY office and requested the name of a Peruvian travel agent in Lima to help with internal airlines (to Cusco) and a Lima tour.

The second site is for Andean Travel Web. We researched lodging and trekking services on this site. If you dig through the Manu info, you will find a list of lodges and tour operators. The write-ups may help you differentiate between the available operators.

Lastly, below is a link to my Peru resource page with my thoughts about the services and lodging we utilized on our trip.

Hope you have a great trip. Looking forward to a write-up when you return. Manu is on my list of places to visit !
