Hi, Ziners.

I've had something similar to the Maltese sandwich in Spain. It is indeed quite good. And I remember, from my mother's stories of when she was a young woman, about her having sandwiches of just olive oil and a little salt. Those were very hard days back then in Portugal, during Salazar's Dictatorship. In those days, as my parents recount, and as a mere example, butter was a delicacy available only for the wealthy.
