Subject: Re: A Villa or Farmhouse in Burgundy or Champagne? |
Hi Lisa and other Ziners,
We hired a flat in Paris and a house in the Sarthe (near the Loire) through the Australian company Cottages and Castles. My brother also hired a place in the south of France through the same firm. They were very helpful and especially when a family emergency meant my brother had to change his plans during his stay. Their website is at: http://www.cottagesandcastles.com.au/ They have two places in Brurgundy which sleep 7 or more. One is at Pouilly-Sur-Loire : http://tinyurl.com/dor32 The second is at St Jean de Losne : http://tinyurl.com/83qo8 They say about the first place: "A great place to soak up the atmosphere of former times, but not for those who want perfect polished antiques and all modern conveniences!" although that is softened by "the kitchen has been updated with dishwasher, fridge-freezer, coffee machine". Be warned - they mean it if they are alerting you to a lack of modern conveniences or uneven floors and you need to consider your tolerance for such authentic touches :-). The company is linked to a company in England and may be able to refer you to a US firm who will arrange hire of those properties if you would find it difficult dealing with an Australian firm renting properties in a third country (France).
