We stayed in the Gothic area, near the cathedral, at the Hotel Regencia Colon. It is a *** & is comfortable & a great location. No view of the cathedral, tho. Right across a very narrow street & facing on the square & the cathedral is the Hotel Colon which is a ****. Frankly, I wouldn't pay twice as much to stay at the 2nd hotel but it looked nice.
