We go every year in November to Barcelona and we always stay at Hotel Balmoral http://www.hotelbalmoral.com , a 4 star hotel, very well located (near, near Paseig de Gracia) and close to subway station (Diagonal).

You can walk to Plaza Cataluna and a little far away, to Ramblas.

The only problem is that they don't have room service but close you can find some restaurants and tapas bars.
