Your DSL modem won't probably work on every DSL line because settings vary according to providers. If the hotel has a wired network, you need a RJ45 (the plug is bigger than the standard telephone plug)cable and a LAN port on your computer. If you use a DSL router at home you already have what you need, port and cable.

For wireless networks you need a WI-FI adapter (a small USB device is ok and frequencies are standard) installed on your PC. Sorry for the lingo, but it's easier to see it working than to explain it in words.
