Hi Joan
I was in Malta for a week in early December 2003. We loved Malta. Check the Zine archive for posts - other Ziners have been there too. We stayed in Valletta, the Hotel British. This is an old-style hotel overlooking the grand harbour. It is convenient for taking the local buses. Be sure to see the ruins at Tarxien, the old city of Mdina, the fishing village of Marsaslox and especially the Hypogeum of Hal Saflieni, an amazing underground "temple". Buy tickets ahead of time - visitors are strictly limited. http://www.heritagemaltashop.com/hm/index.aspx Other links: http://www.visitmalta.com/ http://www.heritagemalta.org/ http://www.britishhotel.com/main.htm We found Malta reasonably priced, friendly, and easy to get around. People are bilingual (Maltese and English) or trilingual. Frances Toronto, Canada |
