Per Nadine's suggestion of heading to Flores. I do believe you plan on heading to Tikal, correct? If so, I highly recommend staying at one of the hotels in the park. Flores is approximately 30 miles from the ruins. We met two Catalans staying in Flores who opted for the sunrise tour with the result being a 3:30am pick-up. Even more disappointing for them was the guide's neglecting to mention that November tended to have overcast mornings, ergo no stunning sunrise. Being the Mayanist you are I'd imagine you plan on spending more than one day at Tikal; I recommend at least two days. We stayed at the Tikal Inn and found it suitable, taking our breakfast and dinner there also.
