Subject: Las Vegas - Accommodation/Restaurant suggestion
Hi all...

On our way to Hawaii last fall, we stopped at Las Vegas for a week (great way to break up the long trip from the east coast!).

Thru our timeshare exchange company, we arranged a rental at the very convenient Summer Bay Resort, 100 Winnick Avenue, phone 877-642-5060. The location is excellent for accessing the Strip, directly behind the Sahara and Imperial Palace casinos, so a car is not necessary altho we had one and found convenient free parking right at the resort.

You can go directly to rent by phone or http://www.summerbayresort.com/vegas.html We had a two bedroom in the Tower (one bath only, but those in the units on a close side street have two baths). The outdoor pool was put to good use in between our many jaunts to check out the casino sights; there is an exercise room and coffee is provided each morning, altho we did breakfast in our apartment for the most part.

One night we had a grand time at the Hofbrauhas, Las Vegas (702-853-Beer(what else!) or 2337);a replica of the famous Hofbrauhas in Munich serving German-brewed beer. The website http://tinyurl.com/dc4ou will give you an idea of what the atmosphere is like in there - a typical Oktoberfest every night! with music/beer and more beer/great German specialties, costumed waitresses and lederhosen clad dancers doing their thing... It really makes for a fun filled (and tummyfilled) evening

Each October there is a schedule of special events to commemorate the real Oktoberfest activities, i.e. spatzle maker demos, Hummel Figurines showings and such!
