Subject: Total Solar Eclipse
Ziners,

I appreciate that not everyone here is interested in Astronomy or travelling to see eclipses, but thought I would ask anyway.

Will anyone be making a trip to view the Total Solar Eclipse in March this year?

We have recently finalised our plans to view the eclipse from close to the Libyan/Egyptian border on the centre line. We are expecting an eclipse duration of 4 minutes exactly.

Our trip will take us into Tripoli and out of Cairo. During our trip, we will visit Tripoli, the ruins of Leptis Magna, Tobruk and Benghazi before entering Egypt. During our time in Egypt we will be visiting Cairo, the Egyptian National Museum, the Pyramids at Giza (obviously), Alexandria before taking a cruise from Luxor to Aswan.

While visiting the pyramids has been a travel ambition for many years, I am also very much looking forward to being able to see the dam at Aswan which I remember from school geography classes.

If you will be viewing the eclipse, where will you be? It'll be interesting to compare notes with viewers in other locations or meet those heading to Libya, if at all possible.

I look forward to your feedback, Mark in Zuerich
