You've had wonderful suggestions and I'd like to add a couple of comments.

We, too, have stayed at Middle Beach Lodge and love it. We had a simple but quite large room with a deck over the ocean but there are many types of accommodation including some tiny rooms in the adults only section and some condominium type units. Dinner is not served evry night - it seems to vary depending on the Season.

It's likely that your friend stayed at the Wikanninish Inn as I think it's World renowned for its Storm Watching packages. However I don't know when you are going - it may not be in storm season. It is Very, very expensive as Judy said and for me Middle Beach or Pacific Sands would be a better bet especially if there are children in your group.
