Subject: Re: Yorkshire, Cornwall, Wales - Lake District?
Landra,

If you are considering a trip to Yorkshire and you and your sister are walkers, then you absolutely should give thought to spending a few days in the Lake District which is just to the west. It is some of the best hiking I have found in all my travels. You can walk in the footsteps of the Lake poets -Wordsworth, Coleridge, et. al. Even in October, the weather should still be ok for outdoor activities. I like Keswick as a base because it is easy to reach by train. But if you have a car, you can stay in just about any of a number villages in the park - Grasmere, Derwentwater, Windermere, etc.

If you would be interested in guided walks, people in the UK seem to like HF Holidays. Here is an example of their program in the Northern Lake District - http://tinyurl.com/8zygw
