In June, we're going to Port Townsend, Washington for my niece's wedding. I've heard that this is a wonderful little town with lots of history, culture, quirkiness, and personality. Can't wait! We'll extend the trip for a few days to visit Seattle.

I'd love suggestions for someplace we can go between Port Townsend and Seattle for a day or so. I'd like to experience something unique (landscape, history, etc.) that epitomizes Washington as I've not been to this state before. We would also go north of PT or south of Seattle if necessary. (I have been to Vancouver and Victoria.)
