Yes, we saw the cork hats but were not convinced that they would do the job with literally hundreds of flies swarming our faces. We settled for wide brimmed hats with separate veils as being the most flexible combination. We were told the flys were much worse than usual this year and were a feature of early summer. Sure enough as soon as we got kitted out with 'bush gear' the flys almost went away. Still we are ready should they appear in other areas.
