Your suggestion about Whidbey Island sounds perfect. I also was told about the San Juan Islands -- while they're the opposite direction from Seattle, I did some investigating, and Orcas Island sounds interesting. What do you think about this as opposed to Whidbey? Are there similarities between the two? We can't do both, and it would be a lot of driving and ferrying to go to Orcas but that's okay if it's worthwhile.

You say the sun broke through in Seattle -- does that mean that the "consecutive days of rain" record will not be broken?
